Annie McDonald is an artist balancing light and darkness, attempting to defy gravity with the sculptural forms she creates. The title of Annie’s exhibit, Bowled Over, describes being constantly astonished by life. Despite being challenged by discouragement and outrage, the human spirit defies suppression, buoying us up to greet another day with hope.
With the newly created work in this exhibit, Annie explores aspects of our increasingly urban landscape, makes reference to the energy and struggles of the high school students she works with and releases little dreamlike bubbles of optimism.
In the Heritage Room we are delighted to be showcasing a small retrospective by one of our founding members Irene Osborne along with long time gallery member Anne Wilson. A Backward Glance features works in a variety of media, highlighting the diverse creative explorations of these prolific artists.
An opening reception with the artists present will be held on Saturday, April 20th from 2-4pm. All are welcome to attend. New works by the other gallery artists are also on display. Bowled Over and A Backward Glance continue until May 26th 2013.
As part of our partnership with the Township of Cramahe, Pat Stanley has work on display in in the main office of the Town Hall in Colborne.
