The Colborne Art Gallery is pleased to present Daily Practice, an exhibition by Guest Artist Elizabeth Hutchinson, March 8 – April 13, 2014.

Daily-Practice
This is an exhibition of Elizabeth's newest work, small, intimate still life oil paintings and watercolors that come out of a daily practice of drawing, usually on the spot, wherever Elizabeth goes. Many are painted directly from objects on the kitchen table, often arranged by chance. They are an intimate view of an artist's home and life.

“The things I paint and draw are a kind of diary, showing where I've traveled and what I am seeing and how I am thinking. The work in this exhibition is the physical evidence of the internal work I am doing: winnowing away extraneous effort while zeroing in on what is essential.”
   —Elizabeth Hutchinson

During the opening reception, Elizabeth will be sharing her process with the guests by doing a still life painting demonstration.

In the Heritage room, Gallery member Annie McDonald is showing a collection of ceramic works entitled Thaw.

“Under piles of snow on snow it's exciting to imagine the activity and stored energy underground. These sculptures are inspired by the mystery of spring.”
   —Annie McDonald

Please join us for the opening reception with the artists present on Saturday March 8th from 2-4pm. Admission is always free and all are welcome to attend. Daily Practice and Thaw continue until April 13, 2014.
