COLBORNE — Most people likely miss the sun rising over the icy rocks on Port Hope's shoreline, but luckily Bill Hornbostel has captured it for them.
Mr. Hornbostel brings 'The Lake In Winter and other Vistas' to The Colborne Art Gallery March 9 to April 14. The solo exhibition features his view of the Port Hope shoreline in the early morning without the chilly discomfort present while he gets his shots.
A member of the Colborne Art Gallery, Mr. Hornbostel left his PhD studies of Roman North Africa four years ago to pursue life as a photographer. Since then, he's been selected to show work in Toronto at The Artist Project and is a recipient of an Ontario Arts Council grant.
The work he'll be presenting at the Colborne show includes recent experimentation with photographic presentation. Mr. Hornbostel has been laminating epoxy resin onto the images to create more psychological access to the photo and reduce the distance glass and frames can create. Mr. Hornbostel will be at an opening reception March 9 from 2 to 4 p.m., at the gallery at 51 King St. E., Colborne. Phone 905-355-1798 for more information.
