"Daily Practice" is an exhibition of drawings and watercolors that come out of a daily practice of drawing, usually on the spot, wherever Elizabeth goes. The oils are small, intimate still life paintings. Many are painted directly from objects on the kitchen table, often arranged by chance. They are intimate view of an artist's home and life. "The things I paint and draw are a kind of diary, showing where I’ve traveled and what I am seeing and how I am thinking. This work in the exhibition is the physical evidence of the internal work I am doing: winnowing away extraneous effort while zeroing in on what is essential.” – Elizabeth Hutchinson
During the opening reception, Elizabeth will be sharing her process with the guests by doing a still life painting demonstration.
Annie McDonald's show of ceramic works in the Heritage Room is titled "Thaw". "Under piles of snow on snow it's exciting to imagine the activity and stored energy underground. These sculptures are inspired by the mystery of spring." – Annie McDonald
As usual, the 2nd and 3rd Galleries will be filled with new works by The Colborne Art Gallery members.
An opening reception with the artists present will be held on Saturday, March 8th from 2-4 pm. Please join us to meet Elizabeth Hutchinsontalk with Annie McDonald, and enjoy the welcoming atmosphere at The Colborne Art Gallery.
