COLBORNE - Intersection, the 2015 themed group exhibition, opens at the Colborne Art Gallery on Jan. 24 and runs through March 1.
In life, there comes a time when we find ourselves at a crossroads, when a particular decision will determine the trajectory of our future. We may experience a chance encounter, a meeting point of two or more lives or even paths, which inspires profound change.
Picture a downtown scene, and you will likely picture an intersection, for its activity and potential for narrative. Road maps and mental maps are defined by their intersections. It is an essential element of communication of time and space, both expansionist and minimalist, which can be interpreted in two, three, or even four dimensions.
The concept of the intersection is significant in both the physical and abstract sense, and it is the theme chosen for this year’s members’ show at The Colborne Art Gallery. Each year, a theme is selected by the member artists of our gallery to explore in their chosen mediums, presented as a group show. Gallery members often respond by challenging conventions, experimenting with media and technique, and expanding beyond their usual areas of comfort. The resulting creative works will be on display at The Colborne Art Gallery at 51 King Street East, Colborne, starting January 24th.
Everyone is welcome to come explore and discover the many visual interpretations of this evocative theme. Meet and talk with the artists at the opening reception on Saturday, January 24 from 2-4pm. Enjoy the warm and friendly atmosphere of our intimate gallery. Intersection runs from January 24 to March 1. Winter hours are Saturday and Sunday from 12-4pm. The Colborne Art Gallery is wheelchair accessible and admission is always free.
