Exhibition to be held May 28 to July 3, 2016
Calling all young artists! The Colborne Art Gallery is looking for entries for its first-ever youth art exhibition.
Some of our community’s most creative ideas come from the minds and hands of our young people, but opportunities for youth to show their art to the public are few and far between.
That’s why 11-year-old Zoe Bergeron was motivated to organize an exhibition for the youth of Northumberland County. Miss Bergeron approached The Colborne Art Gallery with a proposal to host such an exhibition. Gallery members were immediately inspired by the suggestion, and have since been working collaboratively with Miss Bergeron to organize the show.
The call is open to all young people in Northumberland from grades 6 to 8 (ages 11-14). Any visual art media will be accepted, within an 18-by-18 inch size limit for 2-dimensional art. Any 3-D art should be within a 12-by-12-by-12- inch limit. Digital art will also be accepted, and will be shown in the gallery’s Media Room.
The exhibition will be held from May 28 to July 3, in conjunction with an exhibition by guest artist Audrey Smith and gallery members.
Parents, teachers and school administrators are encouraged to help their children and students to submit their artwork to the gallery for this exhibition. There is no jurying process; all work will be accepted.
Public school students may send their entries through their schools, or individuals may contact Rod Bergeron at 905-372-1167 or for information on how to submit their artwork.
The members of The Colborne Art Gallery hope that many young artists will take advantage of this unique opportunity to show their art to the public in a beautiful gallery setting!
For more information, please contact Rod Bergeron or visit the gallery website at www.thecolborneartgallery.ca.
