COLBORNE – The artists of the Colborne Gallery have once again risen to the challenge of working to a shared theme, and the chosen theme of their new show will be The Tree.

Through the media of glass, ceramics, jewelry, sculpture, drawings, fabric, paintings and printmaking, member artists of the co-operatively run gallery have each explored their own interpretation of this evocative theme.

A tree of life, a source of shelter, a symbol of strength and history, reaching up into the sky and down deep in the earth, home to animals, insects and birds, provider of wood, paper and food, cleaning the air we breathe – trees enter into our lives in so many practical and symbolic ways. Each of us has our own relationship to trees and, as artists, gallery members have employed their media of choose to bring these relationships into focus. Whether it is to explore the symbolism of trees or to celebrate their beauty, The Tree is sure to be a delightful exhibit all can find a connection to.

You'll find a warm welcome and excellent work, professionally displayed, at the historic former registry building at 51 King St. E., Colborne, that is now home to the Colborne Gallery.

The opening reception will be held Jan. 26 from 2 to 4 p.m., and the exhibition will run through March 3. Gallery hours are Saturday and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m. For more information, call 905-355-1798 or visit www.thecolborneartgallery.ca
